Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Mitya began her career in medicine as a licensed massage therapist, then increased her scope with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced nursing, primarily in rural New England, for over 20 years in the specialties of maternal-child care, chronic disease management, intensive care, and hospice.
Looking to build on her extensive experience, but transition to holistic medicine, she earned her doctorate with honors from Pacific College of Health Sciences, San Diego, in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, completing comprehensive training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. She is nationally board-certified by NCBAHM (the national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of Chinese medicine) and licensed in Vermont, New Hampshire, and California.
Mitya is dedicated to the integration of biomedicine and evidence-based Eastern modalities and to collaborating with her patients to achieve maximum wellness. She recently stepped down after two years as Treasurer Board Member with the Vermont Acupuncture Association (VTAA).
She enjoys treating patients of any age or condition, but her areas of particular interest are orthopedics and pain relief.
Mitya enjoys swimming, Qi Gong, Korean culture and food, and playing the occasional AAA video game with her son. She relishes opportunity to travel, meet people, and experience different cultures, though only if balanced with social and environmental justice.
